Dr. Richard U. Ly

Dr. Richard U. Ly is a dedicated general dentist who has been practicing for the last 18 years. He graduated from New York University’s College of Dentistry in 2002 going through the U.S. Army Health Professional Scholarship Program, with a Degree of Dental Surgery. Dr. Ly also attended NYU and completed his Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Chemistry. Prior to his sophomore year, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves as an Army Medic. Upon completion of dental school, he completed his Officer Basic Course to become a Dental Officer and served 4 years of active duty prior to joining the Gentle Dental team in 2006. His service included a 1-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry at Fort Meade, MD in 2003. Afterward, he was assigned to the 618th Dental Company providing dental services to the soldiers of the 2nd Infantry Division. During the last year of his commitment, he was stationed at the Pentagon. Dr. Ly is currently a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves serving his 26th year assigned to the 7202nd Medical Support Unit located in Shoreham, NY. In 2009, Dr. Ly was deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. His dedication to service to his country and community includes providing quality dental care in a mobile dental unit to the underserved communities of Long Island for about 8 years.
Dr. Ly is currently a dental associate with Dental365, where  he continues to pride himself on having most compassion and winning over even the most apprehensive patients. His greatest asset is his ability to empathize with each patient and ensure they have the most comfortable dental experience possible. Along with his gentle touch, Dr. Ly also has an esthetic eye for smile design.
