Dr. Daniel Bienstock
Dr. Daniel Bienstock is a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon with both dental (DMD) and medical (MD) degrees. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania earning a double major Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and Environmental Studies. He also earned a certificate in Hispanic Studies.
Dr. Bienstock then received his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from the Harvard University School of Dental Medicine. He was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society, which is awarded to the top 10% of the graduating class based on academic excellence, clinical skills, and public service. Dr. Bienstock received many additional distinctions and awards including the Albert Schweitzer Public Service Fellowship Award.
After dental school, Dr. Bienstock moved back to New York to complete a six-year residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Columbia University Medical Center and New York Presbyterian Hospital. There he focused on the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including dental and soft tissue surgery, wisdom teeth management, administration of anesthesia and sedation, dental implants, bone graft reconstruction, corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery), treatment of facial injuries and jaw fractures, head, neck and oral pathology, temporomandibular joint diseases, obstructive sleep apnea and facial cosmetic procedures such as Botox and facial fillers.
During his time at Columbia, Dr. Bienstock earned his medical degree (MD) from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He also completed a one-year residency in general surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital. This included specialized training in areas such as plastic surgery and otolaryngology.
Dr. Bienstock is a clinical instructor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine where he teaches students and residents and is an attending Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at the New York Presbyterian Hospital/ Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
Dr. Bienstock has extensive research experience. He has presented at national and international meetings and published his research in a number of peer-reviewed journals. He has received many awards including the Harvard Odonatological Society Award for Excellence in Research and the Outstanding Achievement in Implant Dentistry Award from the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.
Dr. Bienstock is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, New York State Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association, New York State Dental Association, Nassau County Dental Society, and the American Medical Association. He currently resides in Long Island with his wife and four children.
