A graduate of Georgetown University School of Dentistry, the Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Dental Studies, Pac Live (Pacific Aesthetic Continuum) and the Eastman Dental Center’s Advanced General Dentistry Training Program, Dr. Ira Koeppel brings his expansive knowledge, skill, care and judgement to cosmetic, implant and full arch reconstructive dentistry. Highly regarded by his peers, Dr. Koeppel was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his “Outstanding Leadership Qualities” from the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (New York Chapter). He served as President of this organization in 2000. Dr. Koeppel was also presented with the “Everyday Hero 2006” given by LI Business News for his dedication to patient care and nominated by patients themselves.
With his practice based in the historic village of East Setauket, New York, on Long Island’s North Shore, Dr. Koeppel is more than just a dentist. His overriding goal, apart from ensuring healthy teeth and gums for his patients, is to bring a smile to each patient both literally and figuratively. Whether it be a Hybridge smile, All on 4, implant reconstruction, full mouth reconstruction, or a cosmetic porcelain veneer makeover, his goal is to enhance that patient’s life and the way they feel about themselves. As a founding member of both the International Medical Spa and International Dental Spa Associations, Dr. Koeppel artfully combines modern technology with relaxation techniques for all his treatments. The cozy, modern office environment is further enhanced by the perennial aroma of cinnamon raisin bread which is baked daily on premises and offered as a gift to patients.
Continually challenging himself in learning new methods and therapies for enhancing the quality of life for his patients, Dr. Koeppel is board certified in dental sleep medicine. It is here that he treats sleep and breathing disorders such as snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. After a diagnosis from a sleep physician, the patient is then referred to Dr. Koeppel for the fabrication of a custom oral appliance, similar to that of an athletic mouth guard which allows free, uninterrupted flow of air so that proper sleep is restored.
Dr. Koeppel has given lectures to dentists and other professional groups on various subjects, such as dental sleep medicine, porcelain veneers, full mouth reconstruction, and how to develop better relationships with patients.
Dr. Koeppel believes it is important to give back to the community in which we live! He was recognized by the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Center for his dedication in the fight against breast cancer on Long Island. On behalf of Carol, Alec and Billy Baldwin, he was presented with the Penni Harnet Award for Community Service, 2005. Both he and his dedicated staff have shown tremendous commitments to many other charities as well. Dr. Koeppel served on the board of the Make a Wish Foundation, (Suffolk County). He and his staff dedicated countless hours raising funds in excess of $160,000 for St. Charles Hospital Diabetes Center, Little Flowers Orphanage, Ward Melville Heritage Organization, Stony Brook Children’s Hospital, WTC Widows and Children’s Fund as well as Hurricane Katrina relief.

Dr. Koeppel, tries to balance work and family. He spends much time with his dedicated wife, Robin and their family of three children and five grandchildren. His hobbies are photography, and golf.
